Samsung HBM4 2027 Pricing Set to More Than Double
KB Securities forecasts Samsung's HBM average selling prices will rise more than 100% year-on-year in 2027 as the mix shifts to HBM4, with local reports citing proposed asking prices in the mid-to-high $4 per gigabit range versus roughly $1.50 per gigabit for current HBM3E. TrendForce separately forecast on Sept. 29 that the global HBM market's blended ASP would rise 121% year-on-year in 2027, while Samsung is reported to be in the final stage of 2027 HBM4 supply negotiations with Nvidia and Broadcom.
If even a fraction of these asking prices stick, HBM becomes the dominant and fastest-inflating line in the AI accelerator BOM, compressing margins for OEMs and system integrators unless passed through. The simultaneous squeeze on commodity DRAM wafer capacity — HBM already absorbs ~20% of industry DRAM capacity, heading toward ~30% next year — suggests memory makers retain pricing leverage into 2027.
The price figure is an average selling price, which moves with product mix (generation, stack height, customer) as well as price, so it is not applied to chip BOMs as a like-for-like price change.
